To capture game graphics and sounds to your computer for recording, live streaming or viewing, you can use the HDMI-to-USB capture card from our store in combination with Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One. Here are the detailed steps:
Required equipment:
- Xbox console (Series X/S or Xbox One)
- HDMI cable (for connecting Xbox console and capture card)
- USB data cable (for connecting capture card and computer)
- Our store's HDMI-to-USB capture card
- Computer (Windows or macOS, recommend using newer devices)
- OBS Studio or similar capture software (free)
Hardware connection steps:
- Connect Xbox to capture card:
- Connect the HDMI OUT port of Xbox console to the HDMI IN port of the capture card.
- Connect the USB-A or USB-C interface of the capture card to the USB 3.0 or higher version port of the computer.
- Ensure Xbox console is turned on and outputs video signals normally.
Xbox settings requirements:
- Disable HDCP:
- Go to Xbox settings → Display and Sound → Video Output → Advanced Video Settings, and make sure to disable HDCP (this will avoid black screen issues).
Note: If HDCP is not disabled, OBS or other software will not be able to receive Xbox's video signal, resulting in black screen or no signal issues.
Output resolution set to 1080p:
Most capture cards do not support 4K input. It is recommended to set Xbox's resolution to 1080p 60Hz.
Go to Settings → Display and Sound → Video Output, select Resolution as 1080p, and ensure stable signal output.
Software settings (using OBS Studio as an example):
Install and open OBS Studio:
- If you haven't installed OBS Studio yet, you can download and start it from the official website.
Add video source:
- In the main OBS interface, click the "Source" column below, select "+" → Choose "Video Capture Device".
- In the pop-up window, name the capture source, and then click "OK".
- In "Devices", select "USB Video" or "HDMI Capture" (the specific device name may vary).
- Display Xbox screen:
If you see the Xbox screen displayed in the OBS window, the connection is successful.
Enable sound:
- If the screen is displayed normally but there is no sound, go to the "Audio Mixer" column in OBS, make sure the audio of this video source is enabled.
- If there is no sound, you can try the following methods:
Right-click on this video source → "Properties" → Check "Use Custom Audio Device", select the appropriate audio input device.
- In the "Source" column, add "Audio Input Capture" device, select the audio source from Xbox output.
Common problems and solutions:
- Black screen issue:
- Ensure HDCP is disabled. Not disabling HDCP will cause OBS to fail to receive the signal, resulting in a black screen.
- No signal or capture card does not recognize:
- Check the USB connection is correct, try changing the USB port or cable. Make sure the output settings of Xbox are correct and the resolution is set to 1080p 60Hz.
Audio and video are out of sync:
- Adjust the audio synchronization delay in OBS.
- Go to Audio Settings → Delay Synchronization, and adjust the audio delay to correct the synchronization problem.
- No charging (if using a card with charging function):
- Ensure the card is connected to an independent power supply (if necessary), and make sure the charging function is enabled.
Tips:
Our capture card supports video capture for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
As long as the settings are correct, you can easily capture game scenes, record or live stream.
If you are using a Mac system, you can use QuickTime or OBS Studio for recording. Remember to manually enable the permission in System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Screen Recording.
We hope these information can help you successfully connect and use the Xbox console with our HDMI to USB capture card. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time!
