How to use Meta Quest in conjunction with our HDMI-to-USB capture card?

HOME    usage    How to use Meta Quest in conjunction with our HDMI-to-USB capture card?

Using Meta Quest in combination with our HDMI-to-USB capture card mainly relies on connecting Meta Quest to the computer wirelessly or via a wired connection, and then using the capture card to capture the screen.

Since Meta Quest does not have a standard HDMI output interface, some additional steps and equipment are required to achieve this.

Here are the specific operation steps:

mailRequired equipment:

  • Meta Quest device
  • Our HDMI-to-USB capture card
  • Computer (Windows or macOS)
  • Appropriate adapter or wireless projection software (such as Oculus Link or Air Link)
  • OBS Studio or other video capture software

mailOperation steps:

1. Set up Meta Quest:

enlightenedWireless method (using Air Link):

  • Enable Air Link in Meta Quest and ensure your computer and Meta Quest are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • In Meta Quest, go to Settings → Experimental Features → Enable Air Link.
  • Install the Oculus application on your computer and pair Meta Quest.
  • After connecting via Air Link, you will be able to display the screen of Meta Quest on your computer.

enlightenedWired method (using Oculus Link):

  • Use a data-transmitting USB-C cable to connect Meta Quest to your computer.
  • Enable Oculus Link in Meta Quest and install the relevant Oculus software on your computer.
  • At this point, you will be able to see the screen of Meta Quest through Oculus Link and operate it on your computer.

2. Connect the capture card:

  • After connecting Meta Quest to your computer, connect the HDMI IN port of the HDMI-to-USB capture card to the display interface where the screen is displayed (if you used a wired method such as Oculus Link, you can directly connect it to the display port).
  • Connect the USB output port of the capture card to your computer via a USB-A or USB-C cable.

3. Set up OBS:

  • Install and open OBS Studio.
  • In OBS, click the Source panel in the lower left corner, click + → Select Video Capture Device.
  • In the pop-up window, select your capture card device, usually displayed as something like "USB Video" or "HDMI Capture".
  • Configure the resolution and frame rate (generally select 1080p 60Hz to ensure smooth transmission).

You should now be able to see the screen of Meta Quest in OBS.

4. Record or live stream:

  • After setting up, you can start recording or live streaming in OBS.
  • Make sure the audio synchronization settings are correct. If the capture card does not support embedded audio, you can choose another audio source for recording in OBS.

mailCommon problems and solutions:

enlightenedThe screen cannot be displayed:

  • Check if the Air Link or Oculus Link connection is normal.

  • Ensure the capture card is connected correctly and that the inserted USB port is USB 3.0 or higher version.
  • Latency:
  • Wireless transmission may have latency. Using an Oculus Link wired connection can reduce latency.

enlightenedAudio issues:

  • If there is no sound in OBS, try selecting other audio input sources in OBS, or right-click on the device properties and check "Use custom audio device".

mailSummary:

Through Air Link or Oculus Link, you can connect Meta Quest to your computer, and then capture the screen for recording or live streaming using our store's HDMI to USB adapter.

It should be noted that since Meta Quest does not provide a direct HDMI output interface, a suitable wireless or wired connection method is required to achieve this function. Most of the HDMI to USB adapters sold in our store are applicable to this method. Whether it is USB-A or USB-C interface models, as long as your device supports HDMI output and the adapter can be correctly connected to the computer, this method is applicable.
